Fraser Coast Malayalee Association

The Fraser Coast Malayalee Association (FCMA) was officially founded in 2018 by our first president, Uncle Crispin, with a heartfelt vision — to unite Malayalee families living far from Kerala and to bring the richness of our culture to Hervey Bay, Australia.

What began as a small group of 30 families has now flourished into a vibrant, growing community of over 100 families — and counting.

At FCMA, our mission has always been to foster a strong sense of belonging for Malayalees in the Fraser Coast region. We provide a space where our shared traditions, values, and heritage can thrive — and where every generation feels connected, included, and proud.

FCMA

"I've been proud to call Hervey Bay home since 2007, after spending time in Darwin, Brisbane, New Zealand, and Airlie Beach. Each place offered its own unique experiences, but it was Hervey Bay that truly felt like the right fit. My work in real estate and property development has allowed me to be part of the region's growth, and the best part of what I do is meeting incredible people along the way. Whether it's helping bring a project to life or connecting with the community, I'm passionate about making a positive impact through my work. "

Sreejith nair

"I joined FCMA when it was formed in 2018, with the hope of giving our children an opportunity to experience and appreciate Malayalee culture and traditions. It also gave us a chance to connect and socialise with the wider Malayalee community here. Most importantly, FCMA plays a vital role in bringing together Malayalees from all walks of life, fostering unity and a strong sense of belonging regardless of social background."

Johnny Nellickal

"Being part of the Fraser Coast Malayali Association brings me great pride and joy. For many years, my children missed out on our cultural celebrations because there was no community here in Hervey Bay. So now, being part of this group helps me reconnect with our roots, celebrate our traditions, and contribute to building a strong and supportive Malayali community in Australia."

Hazel

The Malayalee community here is still small but growing steadily, and it has a warm, close-knit feel that we really value. I’m passionate about seeing our organization evolve into a strong, positive force in the wider Fraser Coast community — one that brings people together to do meaningful and uplifting things. There’s enormous potential when good people come together for good causes, and I truly believe we can grow bigger and better, together.
